Popular reality shows such as "Flip This House" are popular and seem to lure in investor hopefuls who want to make it rich quick!! Think you can make alot of money?-You may want to see this-scam artist (click here).
The shows seem to grab you right from the start. They milk you when you meet the regular homeowners Suzy and John, whom you can relate with- cuz you were young once and saved every penny and dime, just like them-coincidence? Okay, so we are hooked! The producers know they have the viewers for a good hour.
Suzy and John need to sell their home fast and their agent has had no luck so they turn to reality shows for help. As the viewing audience, we are hopeful for the hardworking couple and want to see them sell their house. The production crew goes to work as they roll up their sleeves, wipe their brow, tear up floors, paint walls and then cut away to Suzy and John as they eagerly await the finished product. They can't wait for their "open house" deadline date and the show seamlessly invokes your emotions in as well. The days go buy, clips of the updated kitchen are showcased and then switched to the landscaper's dream of a yard.
Finally, the day has come, everybody takes their place and to cut thru the chase.....lo and behold they have a successful contract and a eager buyer. They make a huge profit minus the material and labor costs. Everybody is happy, the contractors are celebrating, they got paid and more especially Suzy and John are on easy street with check in hand.
Do you ever wonder how real these shows really are?? Well, more consumers should be aware - selling a home rarely happens like that and the word is out. These are staged big time and reality shows are not real. Shows like this make it hard for real estate agents and loan officers. This misleads the consumers and in today's market, it's up to Realtors to educate their clients and adjust the focus lens of what is real and what is fake.
