QAC Commerical Tax Base

One small step for Waterman's Business Park and one giant leap for the QAC tax base, potentially!! Last night's hearing at the commissioner's chambers in Centreville, brought out business advocates who stood in support of the Wheatland proposal for sewer designation. It's always exciting to see government in action in a packed house with standing room only.

We thank QAC Commissioner Courtney Billups for making the motion to vote on the sewer and water designation on the Wheatland Farm located in Queenstown, across from the Prime Outlets on Rt. 50. A high five to Commissioners Billups, Gunther and Wargotz for leading the way to save our commercial/business tax base. Commissioner Ransom and Fordonski were in opposition of the proposal. What a wonderful showing we had last night of residents who have had it with stagnant business growth in our county!

I know this project has a ways to go, but the advocates and supporters need to keep a pulse on this to ensure complete fruition.

Here's the highlights of this project:
  • Provide high quality jobs
  • Increase our tax revenue to sustain our growing needs and educational needs
  • Will help to stablize the resident's tax burden
  • People will be able to spend more time with their family
  • There will be less traffic going through Kent Island heading across the bridge.
  • The location is ideal- it's not on Kent Island and it's one of the few parcels (if not the only one left) on Rt. 50 that would allow for a project like this!
  • The private owner is financing the sewer line hook up connection from Perry Corner road in Grasonville to the Wheatland Farm - that's millions out of his own pocket.
  • The success of the Kent Island business park is sure proof that another business park will be another great offering of jobs.
  • The list can go on about the benefits...
